The Other Side - Super Marine

Writer's picture: John WinserJohn Winser

The boys from Blackwood return with their 3rd single 'THE OTHER SIDE' on APRIL 10th and if you've followed Rhys and the boys so far......... you know you're going to get something special.

Check out what it's all about and see exactly what I thought of it in my single review below....

"The Other Side was written when front-man Rhys Davis learned of the passing of 12-year-old Cole Roper who was killed in a hit-and-run in 2019. Cole once said to Rhys during work experience at a local school; ‘You look like a rock-star. What are you doing here?’, to which Davis had no reply. This song is dedicated to Cole and keeping his memory alive.

As with their first two singles, the track was recorded and produced by notable producer Richard Jackson whose previous work includes The Automatic, 60 Ft Dolls, Super Furry Animals and Pretty Vicious.

The Other Side kicks us off with a gruff meaty riff building excitingly into the full kaboom!

Super Marine seem to have that talent for writing the most melodic, memorable singalong tracks and this one is no different. Like Decadent Flowers and Living For The Weekend, the previous singles, this latest offering explodes into your listening holes, slams around your head before bouncing up and down your body, making you want to dance and sing along. Even if someone is watching!

Rhys, Matt, Dan and Jay have done another stirling job on this track and when it comes, the album is going to be an all killer, no filler affair, without a doubt.

If the Stereophonics and the Manics seem missing, Super Marine are definitely filling that mighty gap in the Welsh music scene.

Obviously the promo and tour for this is taking getting postponed until later in the year but when they do hit a venue near you, I suggest you go...Another great live rock band!

Go listen, go like, go follow.......on Spotify and all the socials @supermarineband
