From the opening chords and given the title, you prepare yourself for a little bit of a doom and gloom track. Something that makes you sit back in the dark and take stock...
But no! The drums kick in a bring with it a fantastic little indie bounce-along tempo that get the feet and fingers tapping.
Laura goes on to tell us of the guy thats been on her mind, thats she's "thinking about all the time"
It goes back to when she was 15 years old and wrote this track after an unrequited relationship that left her feeling fragile and 'broken' but tells me that now she understands it can mean a little more than that.
'Broken' can encompass many feelings and can happen in all sorts of different ways.
What strikes me straight away about this track and did exactly the same in her debut single Heart On Fire, is the vocal. The originality in her tones, the ups and downs, the highs and lows are what make Laura Power stand out from the others.
'Broken' is fabulous song and suprisingly uptempo for its content. It could've gone a whole different way but knowing Laura's personality, the positive and cheery disposition shines through as always. Another great track from the young Valleys singer songwriter and I'm sure there's much more to come from her. Get along to a gig sometime too, you won't regret it!
