Eleri kicks off This Ship in true Country style, something we've become accustomed to in her tracks. We've heard Eleri dabble between pop and country crossovers on previous releases, like the All I Can Do EP but this has definitely taken firm roots western style.
From the opening twang and slide of the guitar, the Swansea-based singer/songwriter perfectly takes acoustic lead and beautifully tells the tale with her ever present emotive vocals.
‘‘It's based on a turbulent relationship between two people who feel like they’re constantly on stormy seas, trying to ride each wave and keep off the rocks. The girl in the song realizes she had the power all along to sink the ship and walk away. I really hope it can empower someone to realize they can always take control of a really out of control situation.’
This Ship flows effortlessly along with a catchy riff line and a memorable chorus that soon becomes a tune that sticks easily and pleasantly in your head. This young lady is certainly gaining valued experience as each song gets written and another gets recorded. Eleri's voice has definitely become stronger but without losing the delicate tone that sets her out from the rest. Another superb track that's been wonderfully written and brilliantly performed.
If this is a taste of what's to come in the future for Eleri, then bring it on!
‘I am currently busy writing and recording tracks for my debut album 'Earthbound', a body of work based on stories of my travels and performances around the US, Ireland and Sweden. My new music is fuelled by my passion for Nashville guitar driven, organic sounds blended with the roots of my Welsh upbringing.’
