MADI is the moniker of Welsh singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Maddie Jones.
Emerging in 2018 from the funeral pyre (not literally) of ‘Maddie Jones’, MADI brings irresistible melodies and captivating lyricism to an electro-tinged art pop sound.
Self-styled as ‘weirdo pop’, MADI is experimental yet accessible, drawing from a diverse range of influences from Maddie’s eclectic tastes and her classical
training. The sound has been compared to that of St Vincent, Kimora, and Goldfrapp. Maddie plays a variety of instruments, including keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, and
clarinet, as well as programming synths and sampling everything from FM radio to train carriages

Anyone who is anyone on the Cardiff music scene know all about Maddie Jones! She's made a huge impact in the local venues and on local TV, supporting many new & emerging South Wales artists. From her debut EP Mr Walrus in 2013, the Vita Brevis album (2014) and EP Colour Me In (2015), we've come to love the super talented song-writing skills, alongside the colour and style of this young lady. Every effort is made, on and off stage, to give the gig-goer & music listener the full brand that is Maddie.
After a small break, we started to see the transformation in 2017 with the release of the Dis-ar-ray EP. She still had the great melodic tunes, laden with guitar and Maddie's ever present sultry rock tones but the art-pop influences of the 70's & 80's started to shine through, especially on tracks like Burnt To The Ground.
So were does that leave us in 2018!
We've had the new name MADI. The total rebranded name and logo, the teasing little snippets and soundwaves....

Intimate gets its release on June 8th 2018...
....and its certainly different to what you would expect from Maddie...in a good way!!
The 80's style synth & drums kick straight in and reminds me a little of the Stranger Things soundtrack.
Again, in my book, that's a good thing!
The distinct sultry vocals let you know its definitely a Maddie Jones production and dreamily take you along on a sea of strings and ethereal tones to a simple and catchy singalong chorus that hooks you in and will stay in your head for the rest of the day!
"Iiiiiiintimate...We're iiiiin-to it"

I wasn't sure what to expect from MADI but I'm loving this track. It hits all the right buttons, ticks all the right boxes and could appeal to quite a wide audience, as well as going down really well on the live circuit!
MADI is more than just music. Determined to maximise the experience of her performances, Maddie and her band are currently developing a theatrical and visual live show, to be launched later in 2018. The band are Dan Fitzgerald (guitar, pedal wizardry, modular synth), Chay Lockyer (bass and things), and Rich Welsby (drums and things).
MADI’s manifesto as a multifaceted artist incorporating visual art, choreography, costume, set, lighting, projection and more has led Maddie to start Broken Art - a production company.
With the buzz around MADI already growing, 2018 is set to be exciting.....
