Think…. Imagine Dragons, Bastille or Walk The Moon, add a hint of 80's reminiscent of the likes of Duran Duran and Bowie and you’ll get the idea of Who’s Molly?
Like the others, they bring on the heavy, pounding beats and instantly likeable singalong pop choruses.
What’s not to like!?
They release their 3rd EP 'Fame' and head back home for a special ALL AGES, FREE ENTRY launch night on April 4th at Diablo's.
Keep reading to find out all about the four lads from Swansea (via London!) and check out my interview with lead singer Karl Morgan...
First off, tell me a little bit about the band, for those that don’t know you and the obvious question...Who is Molly?
We’re a four piece alt band from Swansea, (Karl Morgan - Vocals/Guitar // Matthew Fry - Bass // Rhys Morgan - Drums // Matthew Williams - Guitar) So far we’ve released three EPs by ourselves which we put up on Spotify and Apple Music and can’t quite believe that we’re getting people listening to us all over the world. It’s incredible to be getting a reaction from South America to the Philippines.
And ‘Who is Molly?’ I guess that's the big question, and the one we get asked the most. Whilst we have been known to give everyone a different answer… I will say that we came up with the name at a party in a pretty shady part of Swansea!
Ah....That Molly!
So what made you become musicians and what has influenced and inspired you?
We have all played and known each other for years, but have always been in different bands and projects. About two years ago we decided to get together and make some music. We're all inspired by different artists/bands... I'm a big Prince fan, Fry likes a bit of folk, Rhys is into very modern based pop and Matthew is a big Pink Floyd fan. We think the accessibility of music these days means you don't have to be put in a one category box anymore. It's ok to like and be influenced by a bit of every genre.
Totally agree. If its good, its good! You've accomplished a lot in a short time, what’s the best thing that’s happened, for you personally, with Who’s Molly?
We've had a few big things happen over the past two years, even though we’re still only on the first step of the ladder. Our song ‘Welcome to the Good Life’ was featured in the trailer for Tom Cruise’s movie American Made. Also our track ‘Touch The Sky’ was used by the International Olympic Committee on their incredible ‘Best of Rio' video and most recently we found out we’re playing on the main stage at this years BBC Radio 2 CarFest.
Give us a little insight into band life. Who’s the joker? Who’s the serious one?
Being from South Wales the gift of the gab comes naturally to all four of us. We can all be the joker of the band but if something goes wrong or someone's in trouble you can bet your ass its probably Rhys!
Silly questions time! What's your favourite colour then? Ha ha…Serious! Lol
Green - No idea why, it doesn't go with any of the black clothes I tend to wear.

What's your favourite pizza? Or if not pizza...,what?
Simple Margherita! Can't beat it! Well I guess you can if you don't like cheese...
Ha ha..Okay. Back to the serious stuff..Tell us your favourite Who’s Molly song and why?
I have two.
Firstly ‘Touch The Sky’ - it means the most, it came from a place of struggle when writing it, but turned out to be a very uplifting track lyrically and melodically. Recently we got sent a cover of it by a guy in the US who told us how the song has really meant a lot to him. And then ‘Apocalypse’ - it's currently a bit of banger in the set, it’s anthemic and a lot fun to play live!

2016 gave them their first EP 'New Tomorrow' including tracks Touch The Sky, with those pounding electro beats and huge chorus, New Tomorrow itself bringing an acoustic based pop sing along, Tinseltown & Chasing Summer, the feel-good track with subtle unrequited love-song undertones.
In 2017 they released Welcome To The Goodlife featuring the title

track itself with Start A Fire, Top Of The World & Notorious, slapping on the big beats, distortion and ever present catchy choruses!
The super crazy, catchy, instantly likeable sing along pop tunes continued with the bands latest release in February 2018, Fame.
This is where the title song gives way to a massive 80’s sounding track that takes me back to the heady days of Duran Duran and David Bowie and all those great bands back in the day!
Apocalypse brings the big beats, Fire In My Soul which is my favourite from the EP and is everything a great pop song needs! The brilliant New Religion finishes it in true Who's Molly? style!

With the boys making a four hour trip to London twice a week, getting songs played on Sky Sports & UFC, featuring on BBC Introducing, as well as getting Fame added to the BBC Radio Wales A-List, there's only one place for these talented Welsh lads....
on Top Of The World!!
So with all that in mind, what has the rest of 2018 got in store for Who's Molly? Can you give away any exclusives?!
We're hoping to release one more EP this year then get to work on the debut album. Lots more shows and fingers crossed we’ll reach that one million streams on Spotify.
A big thanks to Karl for taking time out to answer my questions and wishing the boys the very best of success!! Don't forget to get to Swansea for that EP launch and go find Who's Molly? at all the usual outlets!!
