Josh Nash, Alex Morgan, Ricky Kwong, James Thurlbs and Andy Ackroyd make up Amongst Thieves, the self-confessed UK mix of Bring Me The Horizon and Alesana, ‘offering intense and hooky vengeful anthems, epic grandeur and crafty atmospheric moments’

What a great build up! Lets hit that play button….
First song up, on this 11 track album is ‘Nothing Left’. The intensity builds straight away with an ethereal, spooky made-for-horror-movie intro including the ever-present haunting tinkly keys. Then bang, then song hits…the screaming voice quickly takes you through to a melodic-heavy chorus.
‘Blind’ hits the riffs from the get go and keeps the heavy moving forward. Only the second track in and I can already see myself bouncing around venues! The head keeps nodding as ‘Absent Minds’ kicks in and the shortest song on the album is my favourite so far…
The mighty anthemic chant on ‘Hate Again’, a fast-paced ‘In The Night’ resurrects the tinkly key outro and ‘Pulse’ slows it down as much we need to rest our aching heads and sore necks. Really love the soaring melodies, great guitar work and angsty vocals on this track.
‘Sick’ brings you slowly back up to speed with a Vienna-esque backbeat and chilling vocals leading into the orchestral breaks between ripping guitar and guttural voice. ‘The Golden Ratio’ is the latest single from Amongst Thieves and even with that slight commercial sound, still gives haunting and honest lyrics we’ve come to expect from this post-hardcore 5 piece.
‘Future First’ and ‘The Silence’ keeps the pace going all the way, warp-speeding you through to the albums finale of ‘All I Know’, a truly awesome track in every sense of the word. The drums are loud, the riffs are strong with frantic solo work and the vocals, as always take you from scream to sweet in an instant.
If you are indeed a fan of BMTH, then get on this, you’ll love it.
Stand out tracks for me were ‘Absent Minds’ and ‘All I Know’
Amongst Thieves have previously released two successful EP’s ‘Revise, Reform’ in 2014 and ‘March For The Sun’ in 2015. Their dynamic and stark sound still rings true with this debut album, released in 2017. You can even find a Justin Bieber cover if you look close enough!
